The voiceover fades away as real life Rafael Nadal enters the screen. The time has come for him to thank Roger Federer for their unique rivalry in tennis history : 40 confrontations including 24 in finales. We will be looking back at images telling the « FEDAL » ( Federer – Nadal ) story with highlights on the 2008 Wimbledon Finale, remembered by the commenters as the « best ever ». International arbitrator Pascal Maria explains how their confrontations have brought tennis to an other level.
Rafael goes to Roger’s mum native land, South Africa. He tells us the moving story of his proximity and friendship with Roger and also tells his hopes and fears after the both of them retiring from the profession. He believes that Roger’s love for tennis will inevitably make him hold an important place in the future of this sport. The Laver Cup – boosted by Roger – has already become a major event in the history of tennis. In the company of South African player Wayne Ferreira and rising tennis star Lloyd Harris, Nadal will discuss with Roger’s mother – Lynette Federer upon her son’s personality and his will to make a change in Africa with the help of his foundation.
